Earnest
Essays about home, and the weight of deciding on one.
Earnest is the show where I sit down alone and tell the truth about home.
Not the market, and not the transaction. The thing underneath both of those, which is that buying a place to live is one of the largest decisions a person ever makes, and we mostly make it while distracted by interest rates and countertops. Each episode takes one piece of that and works it through, start to finish, until it actually lands somewhere.
The name does the work. Earnest money is the deposit you put down to show you are serious, the proof that you mean it. That is the standard for the show. If an episode is not something I genuinely mean, it does not get recorded, because the audience can hear the difference between a person thinking and a person performing thoughtfulness.
